History of the Untamed Kingdoms

Untamed Kingdoms

In lands that border the ice fields to the open plains, vast hordes of animals migrate across the land. The Ehark and Mamadons are just some of the creatures whose numbers cannot be counted, these creatures provided food and clothing for the many tribes that roam the land. While most live in tribal areas and prey on the hordes that pass through others undertake the more risky option of following the herds. More recently the orcs, lizardfolk and beastmen have found easier meat in the other tribes, warring and consuming each other and any who cross their path, some human tribes who live in Orc controlled lands have also adopted this grisly practice and consume the defeated.

Life in these land is harsh, the brother gods of strength and fire are worshipped with sacrifices as is the goddess of fertility. These Gods defined the early life of the region where the ability to create fire meant your people never froze and the strongest most powerful ruled. Trading does occur especially within extended tribes and with the various Dwarf communities, who inhabit the huge mountainous regions and therefore miss the bulk of the roaming herds. The dwarves have mastered making iron and therefore have tradable products for meat.

When tribes crossed each other it either resulted in trade or war, some people were crushed with the survivors scattered and fractured, in this land the small and weak are devoured unless you find another similar group or are taken in by a friendly faction, the Elves are known for this but even the Elves have some who prefer the darker side of sacrifice and flesh consumption. Before the great destruction the land was unending the survivors could have had time to rebuild but the lands are now much smaller and only the ice fields offer any hope of refuge, though many disappear there, devoured by the unspeakable horrors that lurk in the whiteout. Survival leaves little choice and this has seen many unusual groupings of all people, all that is needed is a leader powerful enough to hold the mixture together, many warbands dissolve at the demise of their leader, though some have grown into large tribes but with a different outlook that only survival brings.

From an early age, even before the end of times, the females of all races have learned that their fate can be worse than death, with many being held as concubines for all races, Lizardmen are known to prefer Elven females where combined with magic from their shamans, they have produced a sub-species of half-lizards priestess. Consequently all tribes have powerful female warriors who use speed over power and some have risen to rule the whole tribe. There are stories of the Almani tribe in the south who were ruled by a fierce female warrior unparalleled in both beauty and fighting skill, she was said to fight naked against men who were often distracted by their lust for her which usually cost them their heads. Recent contact with the Sea Lords has resulted in a flourishing slave trade, for a few slaves a young noble can secure the services of a sea captain and crew and go raiding sharing the booty usually more slaves but they must be careful not to end up slaves themselves, likewise a few sea lords have fed many. The Sea Lords are thought to be barbarian tribes who have settled on the coast and turned to seafaring their only difference to their Barbarian cousins is their use of the shield-wall to defend against the berserker charge before unleashing their own fury.
