History of Vyr-Regnum

Empire of Vyr-Regnum

Following the end of times when the land was rent asunder, the land mass now known as Vyr-Regnum was pushed south of the equator before it finally stabilised. The climate of this new continent was warm to hot, with seasonal rains which produced a fertile land. The scattered Barbarian tribes soon settled mainly along the coastline and four major cities arose. Each city was dominated by a single race with trade between them commonplace. The elves of Vyr-Regnum were the first to act making an allegiance with the human colony of Pisra to conquer their Orc rivals at Salgarios. The defeated Orc’s were assimilated in to the Elven city many become slaves but as many became auxiliary troops in the Elf army.

Human loses in the battle had been heavy and instead of wiping out the Orc’s they soon realised their mistake as a combined Elf and Orc army swept across the land. Faced with either destruction or assimilation, the human choice was the latter. The city of Vyr-Regnum was soon prospering, the wealth built on the backs of Orc and human slaves and its army was now very formidable. The cities rise had begun but the need for more as always soon saw her armies march inland to absorb more peoples. The seas around the continent produced much food but should you stray too far from land you simply disappeared. The open sea is full of allmanner of horrible creatures that can swallow whole ships. The Vyr-Regnum are masters of the coastal waters and their fleet aided the conquest from the sea, gradually more and more tribes, fell under their rule.

Life under the rule of Vyr-Regnum could be harsh especially for the slaves who’s valve was the lowest but if you were clever allegiance could see you gain citizenship and in turn elevation through the society, though only elves could ever reach the highest levels. The last major strong hold to stand against the Vyr-Regnum was the dwarf kingdom of Kaz-ak-kar-nor, this is the story of how it fell.

Traders arrived to trade the minerals of the earth for smoked fish, spices, olives and wine which the dwarves regarded as delicacies. The process allowed the traders to spy on the dwarves and get an insight into the dwarf culture and in turn undermine them. Soon the dwarf clans were trying to best each other to secure the best trade and those who lost out bore vendettas against any who had wronged them, envy which had not been know before became common place and would in the end fracture dwarven unity. Dis-enobled dwarf lords found refuge at the Vyr-Regnum court who pledged to help them regain their place in return for their intimate knowledge of the dwarf kingdom. The Vyr knew that attacking a unified dwarf realm would be almost suicide and never likely to succeed but the Vyr-Regnum way is subtle, the dis-unified and undermined realm simply collapsed from within by the help of the displaced dwarves themselves. Before these poor dwarves could act they were swept away by the efficient Vyr-Regnum army the choice is always stark assimilation or slavery, the empire now added the skill of the dwarves to itself and continued its rise.

In the calendar year of 910 there rose a mighty senator who was all powerful and claimed to be the son of god. He became the first living god emperor, in truth he overwhelmed and destroyed the ruling family and elevated his own relatives, to this day his descendant still rules.
